Smith came to us in 2025 with a clear objective: grow their engineering team in Spain with three strategic hires.
They already had a very solid technical base. On a stack built heavily around Django, they were not only integrating AI into the product (beyond generative AI, with classical approaches too) but moving towards development environments increasingly driven by it, with LLMs inside their own processes.
The challenge was not only technological, it was a question of mindset. They were not looking for people who simply knew how to do the job, but engineers who constantly ask how to do it better: optimisation, performance, scalability, and above all a real interest in working with AI as part of the craft.
From the start we understood that fit had to go beyond the stack. We sharpened the pitch to attract people with technical curiosity, their own judgement, and an appetite for building somewhere AI is part of the daily routine.
The process was not easy: the technical bar was high and the filter fine. Even so, across 2025 we closed all three key engineering roles, laying a solid base for their growth.
The collaboration continued into 2026, where we also supported QA hires, widening the impact on the technical team. We are still working with Smith on new positions today.
