Finizens is a fintech specialising in automated index investing with low fees. They build their own technology and rely on quick processes and modern tooling to scale without losing focus.
They needed to add technical muscle, but not at any price. They wanted developers who not only knew Symfony but had judgement: clean code, good practice, and the ability to work with GitHub Copilot, AI-native IDEs like Cursor, and everything else AI has brought to software development.
There was a cultural bar to hold too: humble people, with ownership, used to working remotely. All of it on a demanding stack, PHP and Symfony on the backend, Angular and Ionic on the frontend, and an architecture built on hexagonal principles, DDD and design patterns.
Profiles like that do not come out of a candidate spreadsheet. It takes paying attention to the signals and knowing the person you are about to recommend well enough to be sure.
We sat down with their CEO to understand the stack and the way the team works. With that clear, we ran a surgical search: more than 60 people interviewed, of whom we put forward 29%, only those who genuinely combined experience, technical judgement and perspective.
The result: four solid hires, the backend well covered, the culture intact, and Copilot in good hands. The code came out as they wanted it, solid, clean and maintainable.
